Sony has been hit with another pending lawsuit today, as Toronto firm McPhadden Samac Tuovi LLP prepares to take the company to court. The suit is claiming damages in excess of $1 billion (Canadian) against all Sony subsidiaries, including Sony Japan, Sony USA, and Sony Canada. The lead plaintiff in the case is 21 year-old Natasha Maksimovic who alleges that Sony has breached her privacy and must “pay the costs of credit monitoring services and fraud insurance coverage for two years.”
“If you can’t trust a huge multi-national corporation like Sony to protect your private information, who can you trust,” she said. “It appears to me that Sony focuses more on protecting its games than its PlayStation users.”
It seems it’s going to get worse for Sony before it gets better. Deep breaths, Sony.
